Nordic Padel Federations Collaborative Partnership

Nordic Team Padel Championship

In 2024, the Padel federations from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland have agreed to collaborate in various areas, recognizing their shared interests and the opportunity to learn from each other. As part of this cooperation, they will launch a Nordic Championship for seniors, veterans, and youth. The first championship will take place in Drammen, Norway, on March 14-15, 2025.

The Nordic Padel federations have recognized the importance of cooperation in the growing environment of the sport and share common views on many issues. Through cooperation, national federations are able to promote the development of the sport in their own countries by utilizing each other’s experiences.

The Nordic Championships will feature a group stage, with each country participating in three team matches.

For both men’s and women’s senior teams, the format will be the same as in the European and World Championships, with six players on each team and a total of three matches. The veterans will compete in separate matches based on age groups—45, 50, and 55—and will play separately for men and women. The youth will compete in two age groups:

  • Under 16 years: The team match will consist of two boys’ matches and two girls’ matches, with the possibility of a draw.
  • Under 18 years: Similar to the U16 category, there will be two boys’ matches and two girls’ matches, allowing for a tied result.

Calle Åkesson, head of the Swedish Padel Association, shared his enthusiasm about the collaboration: “It’s fantastic that we’ve had so many fruitful discussions with our Nordic neighbors. Now, we’re coming together to further develop Padel in the region. We see many opportunities, especially in education and competition, and launching the Nordic Championship in 2025 is an exciting step. This is just the beginning of several initiatives aimed at enhancing our national team activities.”

“As part of this collaboration, we are very proud to announce a new joint Nordic Team Championship, to which each country will send not only its A-teams, but also its junior and senior national teams.” – Visa Korhonen, Sports and Development Director, Finnish Padel Association
